Station Equipment

The Black Cat Weather web site is powered by a Davis Vantage Pro2 Wireless Weather Station and Data Logger. (Similar to the one shown above)

These units are professional quality and while they are quite expensive to buy, they are well worth the expense.

A dedicated PC running Windows XP Professional and a range of Programmes for Data Collection provides the interface between the PWS and the Internet.

The station is located at Batley, West Yorkshire in the UK, and is operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Occasionally the PWS is shut down for maintenance for short periods of time, usually around 30 minutes.

The PC gets shut down at various times of the year for maintenance.
